How many modes are there?
There are 5 modes to choose from.
Do you need headphones?
Headphones aren't necessarily needed. This professional metal detector has 5 levels of volume that is loud and clear enough. And you can adjust the volume easily by the control button as you need. Also has a 3.5mm headset jack suited for normal headphones.
How do I put the product in the bag easily? Is that weird to carry the bag on your back?
Hi, putting the detector into the carry bag is pretty easy. You can see the way from the video without unplugging the head or removing the unit altogether. And our carry bag is specially designed for outdoor portability, it's won't weird but fashionable on your back.
Would this be suitable for a 10-year old child, or would it be too bulky/heavy?
This metal detector is only 2.2lbs. it's lightweight for adults and teenagers. But this metal detector is more professional and more complicated for a 10-year kid.
whats the maximum depth it can detect?
It would depend on many factors. First how big the buried object is. For example, a quarter may get 6" while a garbage can lid might come in at 18".The second is how much discrimination you use. On all metal, you will get more depth but pick up more trash items. Under ideal circumstances, you would never even pick up that trash can lid if you had iron nulled out.Other factors are too many to name but soil condition, moisture of grass, and sensitivity settings are all going to count towards depth.

We wanted to purchase an inexpensive metal detector just to have fun and experiment with. We received this one and it was so easy and we have had so much fun with it. We have found a few items just playing around in our yard and in the woods to the side of our house. My grandson absolutely loves this. Great item just to spend time together outside and see what treasures you can find. Highly recommend. Oh, and the seller contacted me after the fact and sent us free camping lights. Very nice and very thoughtful of the seller.

This metal detector is smaller and lighter than others I have tried. It has a LCD screen that shows the kind of material you might be detecting as well as relative depth. Unfortunately it's not as accurate as I would have hoped. It is fairly easy to handle and comes with basically everything you would need to go on a hunt. A shovel, 9 volt batteries, a carrying case but did not include headphones. Like some others at this price point. It makes noise, but it's not as easy as taking it out of the box and finding treasure.
While this is a review of a free or reduced price product, it is an honest review of the product, no different than if I purchased the item at full price.

Takes a few minutes to install together but instructions are informative. REALLY light weight feels sturdy and nice quality. The noises did take me a couple of days to figure out what type of metal I was finding. That part was a little hard to figure out because it doesn't tell you exactly. But this was super fun on the beach to treasure hunt even if we didn't know what we were doing.

Originally I bought this for my preteen daughter as she is obsessed with rocks and crystals. However this is definitely turned into a family fun activity! We have taken this with us hiking and to the beach and it's always so cool what we find. The unit itself is super easy to get the hang of. the detector picks up things shallow and deep and the smallest items are easy to detect. Barn keys were dropped in the field and it took us no time finding it with this unit. I love that it's super lightweight so kids can also easily look over this.
I would say it's probably more of a beginner unit but it is definitely worth the price

My family and I have been enjoying this metal detector for about a week. Took a bit to get used to the sounds and deciphering the gauges, we haven’t found anything great yet, but are getting the hand of using the unit. We have only taken it down a few hunting trails and have found loads of ammo shells and a few cans. This can be so sensitive, it’ll actually read the little bit of metal in an old ketchup packet! Was quick to assemble, and has become a new must have toy to take on our walks. The storage bag and shovel are nice bonuses.

This unit is very lightweight and ergonomically well designed.
The arm support cradle adds stability, as well as reducing fatigue on the hand.
The boot up cycle is obnoxiously loud, even though I set the volume to the lowest possible setting when installing the batteries and starting it the first time.
Incidentally, if you're going to use 9 volt batteries, at least get beyond the dangly wires with the snap caps and having to cram all that into the battery compartment.
Just have spring loaded terminals where you can slip the batteries in there and snap the cover on.
Now, on to metal detection functionality.
It is not very sensitive to small objects.
And sometimes it takes a few swipes over the area to detect the object.
Generally speaking, at about 2" it will detect a brass key or a stainless steel ring.
At 9" it will detect a 3" x 2" x 1/4" thick piece of brass.
At about 12", it will detect a 6" x 8" piece of sheet steel.
To put the detector in the storage bag, the control/display head has to be unplugged and removed completely from the unit.
Not very practical.
It would be much more convenient if you could simply collapse the telescopic portions to shorten the unit, fold the detector head back, and place it whole into a molded plastic case.
The little portable shovel/pick is very stout.
It's not very convenient to store it the little pouch, however, because it takes too much time to assemble it every time you want to investigate a piece of metal in the ground.
It would be more convenient if you could just hook it on your belt once assembled.

Don't make the same mistake I did and make sure you read all the directions first. It will save time later. It is very light and even comes with a nice shovel which I did not notice when I ordered.

This is one of the least expensive metal detectors of this grade available on Amazon. There is one right now that is less and actually has a better metal grade display grid than this one has. This can be a little difficult to understand the depth and grade scale this one has. While metal detecting for the first time the depth gauage showed what I took as something deep in the ground and of questionable value (it shows the value as 25 cents, 1 cent, $1, and so forth along with a higher or lower value symbol- the same symbol). So I thought that I might have something of value deep in the ground. I dug down about 3 inches and ran across a large bent nail. I rechecked, but that was it. I kept checking the area and detected something that registered deep, but not as deep as the first item but it registered at 1 cent. I started carefully digging. I kept digging. I tried the pinpoint mode against an actual pinpoint detector and both showed the item was still there. I kept digging. I finally got down to about 6 inches and found a piece of aluminum; not a tab mind you, there is a symbol for that. I kept detecting and the depth range on the detector would show something deep, and it may be near the surface, or actually deep; while other times it would show it mid depth and it might be shallow. I dropped a penny on the surface and it showed it at varying depths from mid range to right at the surface. It did show that it was 1 cent though. I did try an older copper penny and it showed it as 25 cents (the manual says that copper will come up as that). I haven't detected in quite a few years and I jumped at the opportunity to have the excuse to get back into detecting even if it were just for a review. I will keep using this and playing with it because it is fun to fine things around on our 20 acres even if they are just old burn piles from a century ago.

I'll be honest, I am impressed with this unit. Putting it together was a breeze, and once completed it is quite light weight, yet comfortable, to wield. I can't speak for how accurate it is at large depth, but I will say that it passed every test we threw at it, including throwing coins and keys in the yard, as well as burying them a few inches into the ground. That said, I didn't try digging too deep to see if it would still find the items.
Overall, I like the unit, and couldn't find any issue that really stands out. It works well, is easily assembled, folds down easy for storage, and has all the features a hobbyist could ask for.

Overall, I like the unit, and couldn't find any issue that really stands out. It works well, is easily assembled, folds down easy for storage, and has all the features a hobbyist could ask for.

The two things that stand out are 1) the build quality, which feels pretty high end and not at all plasticky, and 2) the useability. I really like the fact that there are different tones for different metals. I've seen this feature once before, but on the previous model that had it it didn't work particularly well, but here it really does. It makes it easy to get an idea of what you're gonna find before you bring out the shovel.
I've only used it a couple of times so far as the winter is on the way and the ground is beginning to harden, but I expect I'll spend a lot of time playing around with this thing once the warm weather returns in the spring.
Wow, what a difference from a basic model. This had no problem locating the markers and I found a number of other items as well.
Even though this is a far better detector, it is still value priced. Great buy.
